Plymouth is based on the south coast and has good transport connections to the surrounding areas, including a good transport line in to London. For getting around the city there are plenty of bike routes and public transport.

In Plymouth, you have quite a lot of student accommodation. In this section, we will just be looking at the purpose-built student accommodation in Plymouth.

These have a lot of added extras that can be good for students and they are focusing heavily on the well-being side. One of the downsides is the cost as they are more expensive than living in a student house.

Because Plymouth is a relatively big city with two universities it has plenty of student housing in the surrounding areas for students.

You need to make sure you find the student letting agents and landlords which are providing good student housing.

  • Always view the properties, view a minimum of 3 for benchmarking
  • Read the tenancy agreement before signing
  • Try and speak to current and previous tenants

The best areas to live as a student in Plymouth are:

  • Greenbank
  • Lipson
  • City Centre
  • Barbican and Sutton Harbour
  • Mutley

These areas are great for students because they are within walking distance to the university and they are close to the centre.

Rents depend on where you want to live, the city centre and Barbican are the most expensive where as the other areas are a little cheaper.
