Student Accommodation in Colchester

Written by Sam | February 15, 2021

In Colchester, there is only one university and that is the University of Essex. The university is spread over three campuses in Colchester, Southend, and Loughton and each of these campuses has its own theatre. I shall come on to student accommodation in Colchester shortly!

The courses available are organised into three faculties: humanities, science and health and social science.

The University of Essex has grown to over 12,000 students and has a lot of international students. Normally, Colchester is never thought of as a major university, however, when you look at the rankings and number of students it really does hold it’s own!

It has some great courses and contributes to a lot of research!

Private Student Accommodation in Colchester

In this section, I look at the purpose built student accommodation that is in Colchester. This is accommodation that is not owned or managed by the university but is owned and managed by a private company. Most of the companies have more than one building and are usually in multiple cities.

In this type of student accommodation you get a lot of added extras, some of these are:

  • Accommodation manager
  • Extra security – CCTV
  • Social events
  • Free breakfasts
  • Gym, cinema, study and games rooms
  • All bills included
  • En-suites in flats

The only downside from this is that the price can be much more than student housing in the areas, however, many choose to live here because of all the pluses.
