Student Accommodation in Ipswich
The University of Suffolk is based in Ipswich and attracts around 3,000 full time students a year according to Times Higher Education.
The University of Suffolk has five sites, with its central hub being Ipswich and satellite sites in Lowestoft, Bury St. Edmunds and Great Yarmouth (although this is in Norfolk, rather than Suffolk).
It is divided into six schools which are the school of law and social sciences; the school of health sciences; the school of psychology and education; the school of science, technology and engineering; the school of arts, design and humanities and the Suffolk Business School.
It was awarded university status in 2016 and has grown very well considering it has only been several years.

All the accommodation is within walking distance of the university and the town centre, plus it has good access to trains and bus stops if you ever need them.

Student Housing in Ipswich
With only a few student accommodations in Ipswich and the rest being managed or owned by the university, it means that students will search for student housing.
If you are starting your search for the next house and unsure when to start, most students start searching in late November and December and then maybe book if they find a good quality house or wait until the new year.
The best areas to live as a student in Ipswich are:
- Cliff Lane
- Felixstowe Road
- Town Centre
- California
These are areas that are close to the university and the town centre. You can live in the town centre, however, that will be the most expensive.
Cliff Lane and Felixstowe Road are the major roads leading in to the town centre, there will be plenty of roads that come off and students will live in those areas.
California as an area to the east of the town and is a little further out, this is probably a 15 minute walk from the university where as all the other areas are roughly 10 minutes!
The average rent in Ipswich for a student house with bills is probably around £100 per week.
