Student Accommodation in Twickenham

Written by Sam | April 6, 2021

Twickenham is known for being the home of Rugby and many people visiting Twickenham stadium. For university’s, it has St Mary’s,

It offers a London lifestyle with the ability to get into London and have the benefits of the capital. Being so close to London, you will rarely run out of things to do as a student.

Being in Twickenham means you aren’t far from other towns in the suburbs such as Richmond which has great parks and green areas to meet friends.

St Mary’s university has around 4,000 full time students according to the Times Higher Education which makes it quite a small and quaint university. This can be refreshing in a place that is around London.

It’s mainly known for it’s teaching and media courses because it has good facilities in those areas.

If you want to read more about Twickenham and what it is like for students living there, this page will help: Twickenham as a student.

When you want to know more about the university and see it’s good parts, improving parts and some important stats, this page will help: St Marys University

Private Student Accommodation in Twickenham

In this section, I like to look at what student accommodation there is in Twickenham. This is student accommodation that isn’t owned or managed by the university.

This type of accommodation is usually known as Purpose Built Student Accommodation and is designed specifically for students.

It can come with a lot of added extras, some of these are:

  • Accommodation manager
  • CCTV
  • Social events
  • Free coffee
  • Free breakfasts
  • Bikes to use
  • Contents insurance
  • En-suites in flats
  • Bills included
  • Gym, cinema, study and games rooms

There are many more that I will have missed, however, not every student accommodation will be able to offer everything on the list due to money and space in the accommodation.

There isn’t a lot of student accommodation directly around St Marys University, however, there is university-managed accommodation which makes life a little easier as you could stay there.

What you will notice from the picture is that Heathrow is just a stone’s throw away from the University meaning as an international it is easy to get to!

Also, because you are in London, you can also stay at other accommodations nearby, such as Kingston upon Thames which has several private student accommodations.

These are just some of the agents and landlords in Twickenham and London, however, these are the ones that I like and think do a good job. Please make sure you do your own research!

Some good student letting agents:

Best areas to live around Twickenham for students are:

  • St Margarets
  • Fulwell

  • Whitton
  • Hounslow

All these areas are not bad as they are on the west of the university and within close proximity of a train station. You can live close to Teddington but it will be more expensive at is very close to the university and train station.
