Student Accommodation in Warwick

Written by Sam | April 6, 2021

When I say student accommodation in Warwick, there isn’t actually a university in Warwick. Despite it being called the University of Warwick, it is actually in fact Coventry.

The university is actually a fair way outside of the city centre of Coventry and this can be a bit of a dilemma because do you want to live closer to university for lectures or closer to the city centre for ease of life.

Saying that, it is actually ranked 77th in the world by the Times Higher Education and has as many as 21,000 students. In 2012 it was ranked 157 which shows the journey is on.

With that many students, they all need somewhere to live and we will explore that below!

Student Housing in Warwick

Because it is close to Coventry and a few other areas students have more options of where they want to live, usually it would be closer to university, however, these are slightly further out and use bus or cycle routes.

Coventry, Leamington Spa, and Kenilworth are local areas that are popular with Warwick students and are well connected by bus routes or within walking or cycling distance of campus.

A lot of students will gravitate towards Coventry because it has the most amenities in it and are most likely to spend a lot of time outside of university.

Good places to live as a student going to Warwick university:

  • Earlsdon
  • Canley and Canon Park

These areas aren’t in the centre of Coventry but they are in the middle of Coventry city centre and Warwick University. It is about 15-20 minutes in either direction for both destinations which is why they are popular with Warwick uni students.

Average rent for a student in this area is around £100 per week including bills. You will likely have it slightly cheaper due to being further out of Coventry and it will be more expensive.
