Student Accommodation in Bath
Bath has two universities which are, University of Bath and Bath Spa University. Bath is a great place to live if you enjoy having a lot of historical artifacts in the city with some modern twists and being able to venture out into the country.
The University of Bath is well ranked for students and Bath Spa isn’t ranked as highly, however, it is well known for several courses, especially it’s arts and sciences.
Bath Spa has around 7,000 students and University of Bath has just over 14,000 students.

Private Student Accommodation in Bath
Student accommodation in Bath isn’t something that is in short supply. Because of the size of the city and the amount of students that live there, there is a lot to choose from. I have put a picture below.
For this part I am only looking at purpose built student accommodation that isn’t owned by the university.
These are the big blocks of student accommodation where you get a lot of added extras some of these are:
- Accommodation manager
- Security
- Cinema, games and study rooms
- All inclusive bills
- Bikes to use
- Free breakfasts
- Social events
The only downside is that the price can be quite expensive compared to student housing, however, in student housing you don’t have a gym beneath you.

All the student accommodation in Bath is based around the city centre and close to the train station. These student accommodations are, however, mainly used for the university of Bath because Bath Spa is based slightly further out of the city, however, don’t let that stop you from living in one if you want to. There is plenty of transport to get you to and from Bath Spa university.
See the picture below!

If you want to make sure that you find good quality student accommodation while you are in bath, here are my top tips:
- Always view the accommodation and look for quality in their rooms
- Make sure the gym and cinema etc are more than a pool table or TV
- Have a look at the social events and calendar
- View more than one provider
- Read the tenancy agreement before booking

In a small city with near 20,000 students, there are a lot of student letting agents and landlords. A lot of the student housing in good, you will have a good place to live, however, on the flip side there are some places where you do not want to live and we want to help you stay away from these places.
The best places to live as student in Bath are:
- South Down
- Oldfield Park
- Twerton
- Widcombe
- Combe Down
- Weston
- Larkhall
- Odd Down
There are a lot places here, however, stick with it. A lot of these will mainly suit University of Bath students, however, some of the areas like Twerton can be used for both universities.
Each area is popular with students because they are close proximity to university without having city centre rents, they are also packed with shops and places to eat and drink.
Each place has slightly different rent however, I would say the average is around £120, the closer to the centre, the more expensive and further away, is less expensive.
